P&H Salon and Spa: All your services under one roof!

Posted on March 26, 2012March 30, 2020 by Elaine

A while back I had the opportunity to attend the official grand opening of P&H Salon located at 77 King Street E in the East end of Downtown Toronto. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to make the opening but the kind people of P&H salon asked me to come in anyway and they even booked me in for services with some of their most talented people!

P&H

I just have to tell you how nice everyone is there, even from the moment I tried to park! I was taken aback at the $25 parking fee in the parking lot next door to the salon, I called the salon to see if there was alternate parking as I’m not too familiar with the area (I’m a West End girl 😛 ) and the kind gentleman from the front desk came outside to scold the parking attendant and then tried to help me find parking elsewhere LOL!  Talk about service! I ended up finding parking the next street over for a more reasonable $10.

Anyway, on to the salon itself. Considering I came to visit the salon BEFORE the grand opening, it was super duper packed! Every chair in the salon was filled and it was buzzing with clients and stylists. My first service was with Hana for eye brow threading.

A little about Hana:

Hana El Chaar has over 10 years experience as an esthetician, continually learning the newest industry techniques and procedures. Her services range from manicures to skin care correction, permanent hair removal, cellulite reduction, waxing, specialized eyebrow threading, electrolysis, eyelash extensions, herbal organic treatments, bodywraps, photofacials and much more.

Hana

I had only had my eye brows threaded once back in high school and I got a bit of a cut from it. I’ve always been pretty low maintenance with my brows just a little tweeze here and there for stray hairs so I was curious what Hana would think about my brows (apologies for the poor quality pictures – lighting was not optimum and my makeup appears to have smeared all over!).

Can you tell the difference? Yeah I couldn’t really either LOL! But Hana pointed out to me the subtle change she made and also pointed out that one eye brow was longer than the other. Who knew, maybe my eyes aren’t that “crooked” but it was my brows! The threading didn’t “hurt” but I wouldn’t say I felt nothing either. It was over with quite quickly though and no redness or irritation at all so Hana definitely knows what she’s doing!

My next stop was to get my hair done by Fay.

A little about Fay:
Fay Linksman is an Artistic Director and Hairstylist/Colour Specialist with over 13 years experience, offering her clients an open environment to express their ideas. She has trained with L’Oreal Professionnel and Toni & Guy in NYC, and Sebastian Professional both in Canada and the United States as a member of their Canadian Artistic Team. Fay’s belief in continuous education means she does not miss a beat in the styling demands of today’s beauty junkies and fashionistas. Her teaching pushes the borders of creativity by blending technical precision with artistry.

Noor who sent me the invite was so thorough and we spoke at lengths about what type of hair I had and which services I was interested in. I’m so glad she introduced me to Fay. You can really tell she loves her job and she is definitely an expert in her field. Not once but a few time during our session other colleagues came to her for colour advice and questions and she was always willing to help out.
As a bonus she also has curly hair so I had complete trust in her! She gave me a bit of a trim and changed my colour up for me:

  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan! • I got Botox! (Technically, I got Nuceiva, which is a different brand of neuromodulator, but does the same thing) I’ve been feeling uncomfortable with the fine lines on my forehead, and wanted to try out neuromodulators! It was easier and much less painful than I anticipated, but definitely was a bit of an emotional journey. ➡️ I got 24 units during this visit, at a cost of $11 each. (Cost will vary depending on brand of neuromodulator, the clinic you choose, and the person who does the treatment) ➡️ This treatment will probably last around 3 months, and then will
  • Trying out @fentyskin’s Cookies & Clean Detox Face Mask! I love a good mask, and goodness knows my skin needs a bit of help nowadays! ➡️This is one of the products I featured in my blog post about Black-owned beauty brands. I love that it’s not too drying, makes my skin feel refreshed, is cruelty-free, and is part of the Clean at Sephora collection!
