Perfectly Undone Hair with TRESemme

Posted on February 25, 2015May 19, 2015 by Sohnee

Check out how Sohnee perfects the perfectly undone hair trend! It’s much easier to achieve than many of other trends out there so hopefully you’ll try it out too!

*****

There have been some hair trends that I struggled to get behind. Does anyone remember in the early 2000s when pin-straight hair was the way to go? I could spend hours with a flat iron and never accomplish that look. And when I could, the ends would curl in a matter of hours.

Sorry ladies, but it’s never going to happen for me.

I was SO glad to hear the new hair style being embraced is the “undone look” i.e. messy bed-head meets beachy waves. Now, THIS I can pull off!

TRESemme Perfectly (un) Done // Toronto Beauty Reviews

TRESemme has come out with their Perfectly (un)Done collection. I got to try out the mousse and sea salt spray, but they also have a shampoo, conditioner, and hair spray. Full disclosure: I already have wavy hair, so I followed the “scrunch and air dry” method, ignoring the other steps.

Both products are silicone-free, so my hair didn’t feel heavy, which can be a huge problem when you have long hair like me. I first applied the sea salt spray infused with sea kelp extract after towel-drying my hair. I spritzed it all over my hair, scrunching it. At first, I was worried that it was drying out my already dry hair, but that feeling went away as it air-dried. It also didn’t feel sticky when I sprayed it. After the spritzing, I applied the mousse. They suggest using 2-5 pumps, so I used 3, distributing the mousse evenly through my hair. Again, I scrunched it all the way through and again, it felt dry at first. After my hair completely dried, I was happy to see that it didn’t look frizzy. What made me even happier was that my waves stayed as waves (didn’t tighten into curls, like some mousses can do), and here’s the best part….THEY WEREN’T CRUNCHY! All of my curly girls can attest to the crunch factor that can happen when you’re using mousse. I am SO glad my hair didn’t feel (and sound!) like hay.

Here’s a picture taken shortly after my hair completely dried. Sorry for the poor quality, I was using my cellphone camera (and it’s not Elaine’s LG G3):

My waves were much more defined than if I didn’t put anything in my hair. I went to bed and took another couple of pictures the next morning:

There was some frizz that developed overnight (I’m a toss n’ turn kinda girl), but I was able to go to work that morning without needing to put my hair up into a bun. It was just the right level of “undone-ness” that still looks good for the workplace. I really liked how quick and easy it was to put this together. I literally did nothing that morning to my hair and felt confident that I was rocking it in the office.

For those of you who don’t have naturally wavy/curly hair, TRESemme suggests that you do the following:

  1. Apply liberally all over your hair (the spray, mousse, or both).
  2. Blow dry until your hair is about 80% dry
  3. Take a small section of hair. Create a twist by holding it from the bottom and twirling it away from your hair.
  4. Hold the twist in place and blow dry until fully dry. Then, mist the twist with their Perfectly (un)Done hairspray.
  5. Tousle as desired.

This seems like a pretty easy way to achieve the look without needing a curling iron. Plus, it’s much more affordable than some other sea salt sprays out there.

  • You *know* I had to! Once I had my wedding hair & makeup trial, I put the look TO WORKKK! ✏️ To get a sense of how my look would perform on my wedding day, I did: ✅ a humidity test ✅ a transfer test ✅ a kiss test ✅ a food test ✅ a crying test ✅ an exertion test It was a ton of fun and really gave me a sense of how the look would handle the various stresses of a wedding day. The tests showed what worked well and where we needed to make some small
