If you’re unfamiliar with the Petite Fashion Challenge go see the very first post proposing the idea by Jean of Extra Petite.
This month’s challenge is hosted by the gorgeous Jessy of The Little Dust Princess.
A little black dress (LBD) is essential in every woman’s wardrobe. It’s always great for back-up if you run out of outfit ideas for a night out. Adding a pop of colour to your LBD will change up its look and make your dress a little less boring.
For this challenge, add a pop of colour (or two) to your little black dress to change up the look. You could add anything from an accessory to a blazer, or even nail polish!
So I forgot about this challenge until the other day when Khatu kindly tweeted about it. I literally pulled my LBD out of my closet without a thought about what I was going to do. Then I looked down at my nails. YESSSS!! After WEEKS of bare nails for some reason I painted them a bright pink this week with the polish from this post.
I grabbed a colourful scarf and complementary earrings and voila – a less boring LBD.
Nail Polish: mark by Avon
Love the color of your nails! The little black dress is also lovely with the scarf belt. Lovely!
Cheers,

These pink accents are subtle but definitely add some visual interest to your LBD. And your replica ring is too precious! Hahaha 🙂

I don’t think I could ever grow out of my pink phase!

@gold N turquoiseThanks! Took me a while to find them!
@KikiKiki, you’re the best! 🙂
LOL, where did you get that ring again? It is positively gorgeous. I actually got my friend a ring like that a couple years back, and when she wears it now, people ask her “Oh, is that because of Kate Middleton?” and she replies “Um, no, my friend got it for me a long time ago.” It’s quite beautiful too, and it comes up sometimes at diamondshark.com (a deal a day site), unfortunately, only in size 7 so it has to be re-sized. I did love it so when I opened it to make sure it was okay before I gave it to her… and now I may be tempted to get it anyway 😛
Anyway, lol, that was a nice side trip I went on, but your scarf looks lovely Elaine. It gives this nice classy but party feel to it, and such a gorgeous color too, that matches your nail color (so pretty!)
great nail color!! i’m loving all things hot pink these days. such a fun color for spring!! 🙂
cute & little
Very cute nails! Hot pink was an excellent accent color choice. 🙂

OMG i want the kate middleton ring too!!!!!!! I was wondering why I haven’t seen it on any bloggers yet!!
Got too excited about the ring. I love your outfit too! I’ve never tried using a scarf as a belt, but now you gave me ideas for my LBD…
Hot pink! I used to think that it was a childish color, but you’ve totally changed my mind. It looks amazing on you and the color is not childish at all. Way to rock the scarf as belt look, it totally changes the feel of the dress. =)
So you know I want to use “Curls and Pearls” now, right? Just kidding. It’s such a clever name though, curlfriend. I had to 😀
I love the pop of color of your sash! So great with your nails!
Jen Hemming and Hawing Again
The sash is absolutely perfect, and I love the neckline on that dress. It’s really flattering.
If the replica ring is that pretty…image what the real thing looks like! *drool*
OMG, that belt was going to be my back-up look! I even went back to my old house to get a pink ribbon belt from my parents! The shoes are fine. Neutrals always go well with everything.
ooh those pretty nail colors matched your scarf-turned sash nicely! I love pink and black combo’s….and hahaha love the Kate Middleton ring replica! Can’t wait to see the wedding tomorrow 🙂
I know this has already been said, but…I’m really loving the ring! Also, the pops of pink are fabulous.
So cute Elaine! I wish I knew how to put things together – and I love the ring! I am the same way with taking pictures LOL! Always with the right hand!
i agree with Elle, those nude pumps actually go really well with this outfit. and yayyy to spring nail colors!!
I kept on thinking how great you look and how great that scarf is…then I realized I have it too. Such Avon people we are.
ps…can’t believe you got that ring 😉
Oooooo! Hot pink is, well, HOT! You rocked it, mama! xoxo Kiki
love the ring! also, i’ve had a craving for nude pumps; your pumps are adorable!

I LOVE IT! Hot pink and LBD are a match made in heaven. 🙂 I think hot pink shoes would’ve been too matchy matchy and black shoes would’ve been less exciting so I think you went with the best shoes!
Elaine, what a great look. I love the splash of color you used with the scarf and the nailpolish. You look like you’re ready to go out and paint the town hot pink. Hehe. Thanks for the post!
The sash makes such a big difference here – I love it!! Great job Elaine!
Do you want to borrow my pink heels? B/c I wouldn’t mind 🙂 The pink and blues are gorgeous together. You look great, Elaine!
ahahah love the ring! You did a great job with the scarf such a fun color! 🙂
Nice hot pink!
OK. SO your Kate Middleton ring reminds me that the other day, I saw they are making commemorative edition Ring Pops after her ring!! I need to get one. But I’m sure I’ll eat it and have a blue tongue all night…
I want a Kate Middleton replica ring too! Your nail color is so mauve-y pretty. The way you wore this belt reminds me of an outfit you did a long time ago (maybe an old old pfc?) : )
I love how you used this scarf! Great idea!
And your LBD…it creates an amazing silhouette on you!
I tried this look with my challenge too. I love your nail color. I haven’t painted mine in weeks. This weather is wearing me out 🙂 Great job, Elaine!
