Petite Fashion Challenge #7 – The Little Black Dress

Posted on April 28, 2011November 23, 2014 by Elaine

If you’re unfamiliar with the Petite Fashion Challenge go see the very first post proposing the idea by Jean of Extra Petite.

This month’s challenge is hosted by the gorgeous Jessy of The Little Dust Princess.

A little black dress (LBD) is essential in every woman’s wardrobe. It’s always great for back-up if you run out of outfit ideas for a night out. Adding a pop of colour to your LBD will change up its look and make your dress a little less boring.

For this challenge, add a pop of colour (or two) to your little black dress to change up the look. You could add anything from an accessory to a blazer, or even nail polish!

So I forgot about this challenge until the other day when Khatu kindly tweeted about it.  I literally pulled my LBD out of my closet without a thought about what I was going to do.  Then I looked down at my nails.  YESSSS!!  After WEEKS of bare nails for some reason I painted them a bright pink this week with the polish from this post.

I grabbed a colourful scarf and complementary earrings and voila –  a less boring LBD.

LBD: Dynamite (Canadian Store) size XS OLD!

Jewellery:  Avon
Shoes:  Nine West size 7
Nail Polish:  mark by Avon
So, yes I should have worn black shoes or if I had them HOT PINK shoes would be great with this outfit, but the only black heels I have are very low and would not go with this length of dress at all.
Haha, here are a couple of shots of my nails:

  • A moody day outside calls for some @givenchybeauty glamor! I’ve always been a fan of their Prisme Libre loose powder, and the newest addition to the Prisme Libre line is just as gorgeous. It delivers 24-hr matte finish, blurs imperfections, and contains skincare ingredients like capucine extract, annatto, and pink clay to purify and strengthen skin over time! Makeup with a side of skincare is a combo I can definitely get behind! Have you tried the Prisme Libre line from Givenchy? *products kindly gifted —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #torontopr #tbrcontributors #mytbrfave #givenchybeauty #luxurybeauty #foundation #skincaredaily #prismelibre #prismelibreskincaringmatte #skincaringmakeup #makeupessentials #makeupaddict #givenchycanada #magicdust

  • A quick reminder that Pride doesn’t stop after June. As I mentioned in my Pride post last year, I’m very aware of the privilege I hold as a White, cis, straight-passing queer woman. Celebrating Pride openly is not a risk to my safety. I can choose to whom I disclose my orientation and when. My identity is generally not seen as a threat or a negative thing. This is absolutely not the case for so many in the 2SLGBTQ+ community. ➡️ As companies move away from the “rainbow washing” of their branding for the month of June, please continue to
  • Some of the #QuoBeauty Pride collection!
