I haven’t been shopping in a really long time. I felt like I needed something to wear for the ANTM Live event so I finally hit the mall with a bright coloured top in mind. What did I come home with? 2 neutral coloured tops from Club Monaco LOL!
(Oh please excuse the hair – this is what happens when I come home from work, it just gets thrown up haphazardly!)
I love the button details on the back of this navy sweater! I bought this sweater on sale although it was still pricier than I normally like to pay but I just loved the relaxed fit and how comfortable it was. My only complaint was that the first time I wore it I noticed some pulls at the hip area :(. My fault for not checking the top over but still a big disappointment considering I paid more than I do usually.
As you can see from my ANTM Live post I wore this navy top with my new
Dara Dot Designs Scarf (I’ll have to do a separate post with all my scarf purchases!)
This next top might not seem like anything special – I mean really it’s just a stylish sweatshirt LOL! Again, this sweater is SUPER comfortable! I’ve actually worn it with skirts to dress them down and of course just thrown over jeans and a tank top for some warmth. What can I say, I love it!
Both of the above Club Monaco tops are XS.
Don’t worry I did recently purchase some brighter stuff to match the sunny weather we’ve been having. Being in vacation mode has got me thinking all about summer dresses. I was browsing the Old Navy site and found a few things to try on.
Ignoring the wrinkles this dress is a keeper for me. Again it’s very comfortable (as I get older this is the theme in most of my clothes LOL!) and I think it will be perfect in the heat and humidity. I’m also good with the length. It could be a smidge shorter but nothing to bother me enough to return it. In the future perhaps I’ll get it hemmed but for now I’ll see how I like it.
Here’s the back view. I really like the detail of the twist straps.
The next dress didn’t work out quite so well.
I was drawn to the “Anjou Pear” colour of this dress since I don’t have anything like it. But obviously this dress was way too big and baggy on me.
I was hoping the dress would fit more like this (maybe not as short). I hiked up the waist but there was no way it was staying up on it’s own so this one was a return.
This dress is also a keeper for me. Again very comfortable and will be perfect for hot weather and also for shopping! I should mention that when we take our annual trek to Florida one of the main events is shopping. So I need to wear clothes that are comfortable and easy to deal with in the change rooms. Belts and complicated closures just don’t work for shopping.
Here’s the back. Cute no?
I also tried to try these on:
I say I “tried” to try them on because I ordered the size 0’s and I could barely get them on!!! They are sooo tight! I went to exchange them this weekend for a larger size but the line ups for the change room were so long I didn’t bother. If I happen to see them again in a 2 or a 4 then I will try again!
Lastly, on a whim I popped into Zara since I haven’t been there in a while. I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything from Zara since University – I know, sad but true.
I was keeping my eyes peeled for this gorgeous blazer as seen on phiphi.
I was unable to find it but found something similar. Seems really silly to be buying a piece like this when it’s so HOT out right now, but I couldn’t resist as it’s so different from what I already own but still felt like it was “me”.
The sleeves are a bit long but when zipped I don’t really notice. And I’m SHOCKED that I like the gold buttons. I usually think gold stands out to much for me personally but against the fabric and colour of this blazer the gold buttons and zippers are beautiful. This blazer is lined and quite warm. It will make a nice alternative to a light coat and will dress up an outfit nicely. It was definitely more of an investment for me. But I kept trying it on in store and had it at home with me for a few days and kept putting it on so I thought I’d better keep this one or I’ll be thinking about it all the time!
So that’s it, my recent shopping spree. On my radar is actually a maxi dress since I think they’re perfect for travel, but really hard to find for petites who are lazy and don’t like to hem. So I’m keeping my eyes peeled for maxi skirts that I can possibly hike up into a dress! If you see any please let me know!
