Review: Essence Cream Shadow

Posted on May 13, 2012 by Elaine
I attended the Essence Canada Launch in March and have YET to review any of their products 🙁 So sorry, I’m a bad blogger! Which is totally why I needed Ashley’s help, thank goodness I found another beauty junkie like me that loves to write reviews!

Product: Essence Stay All Day Long Lasting Eyeshadow in ‘Glammy Goes To’
Essence Glammy Goes To
What It Claims: “…highly pigmented colour…all day long lasting eyeshadow that never creases”
Price: $3.99 (Canadian)
Company Introduction: Since Essence is a relatively new cosmetic company to the Canadian market; I thought I’d take this time to do a little background. Essence was launched in Canada in March 2012, and is quickly becoming a staple in women’s make-up cases. Offering high quality beauty products at low prices, Essence is valued as one of the #1 cosmetic quality brands worldwide. Currently, Essence holds the marketplace in over 10 countries. Look for their products in Shoppers Drug Mart .
First Impressions: Cream eye shadow has notorious caused problems for me (hello, creasing!). Was slightly wary of this product. That being said, the colour of this eye shadow was gorgeous – shimmer dark gold, with hints of brown tones. The tiny individualized pots are a huge convenience!
Essence Eye Shadow
Usage: Do not, and I repeat, do not use a make-up brush to apply this product. It will not work. In the two weeks of using this product on almost a daily basis, I would recommend only applying this product with your finger pads. I found make-up brushes couldn’t capture the high pigmentation of the eye shadow, and thus, the application was sloppy and uneven. Finger application is almost foolproof here – it ensures the consistency of the application, and it definitely the way to go.
Review: I’ve converted! This crème-based eye shadow is easy to manage (when using finger application) and is downright impressive. High colour pigmentation is GUARANTEED – this colour goes on gorgeous and stays gorgeous all day and night. Needless to say, I’ve had many issues in the past with expensive crème-based eye shadows. Even with primer application, the shadows constantly creased and it was extremely impractical and unattractive. This eye shadow did not budge. Through 8-hour workdays, and a night event, re-application was also unnecessary. This product will not budge until you remove it with make-up remover.
The beauty of this specific eye shadow is that it can easily be played up for night, and toned down for the workplace. Depending on the consistency of your application, it’s easy to go from work to night. I found this product looked great against dark eyeliner, it really brought out the colour of the shadow. AMAZING product at such an affordable price?

Wow, loving that these shadows don’t crease, and you really can’t beat the price.

  • You *know* I had to! Once I had my wedding hair & makeup trial, I put the look TO WORKKK! ✏️ To get a sense of how my look would perform on my wedding day, I did: ✅ a humidity test ✅ a transfer test ✅ a kiss test ✅ a food test ✅ a crying test ✅ an exertion test It was a ton of fun and really gave me a sense of how the look would handle the various stresses of a wedding day. The tests showed what worked well and where we needed to make some small
