Review: L’Oreal Infallible Eye Shadows

Posted on October 7, 2011March 30, 2020 by Elaine

I’m a big sucker for pretty eye shadows.  I’m not sure what it is about them but I love the sparkle of them and the way they change in the light. When I first opened these L’Oreal Infallible Eye Shadows I was in love with how they looked in the package!

Gorgeous aren’t they?
Left:  Permanent Kaki // Time Resist White // Forever Pink
Middle:  Purple Obsession // Flashback Silver // Burning Black
Right:  Hourglass Beige // Unlimited Sky // All Night Blue

Aren’t they all so pretty? I was so excited to swatch these and see for myself  if all the reviews so far were true.
First off, the packaging is interesting.  You actually have to flip the eye shadows over and twist the top off.  And this is what you first see:

Remove that little plastic thing and you get to the good stuff!

Aren’t the colours just gorgeous?!?  And here are the swatches:

I REALLY love the pigmentation of these colours and they go on so smoothly.  They almost feel like a cream shadow going on but they are definitely a powder.  The only colour I was a bit disappointed with with Burning Black – doesn’t it look more like a dark purple?  There isn’t much shimmer in this one so this would be a good liner or good for the crease for a dramatic look.
When I had my make up done at the L’Oreal Luminato Event some of these shades were used on me.  L’Oreal was kind enough to send me the product that Eddie Malter used on me and one of those was the L’Oreal Infalliable Eyeshadow in Eternal Black:

There are 11 shades in total so I’m missing one:  Endless Chocolate.
These long wear eyeshadows are supposed to be waterproof and last for 24 hours.  I haven’t had a chance to REALLY test that out yet but hopefully I can do an update as well as post a few looks soon!
Here’s a quick look I did using Forever Pink on the base, Eternal black and the edges (and smoked out to the crease) and Hourglass Beige under my brows and at the inner corners of my eyes.  I used a REALLY light touch as I was going to work so I didn’t want to go too dramatic and I also didn’t have a lot of time!

(the eye lashes are going a bit funky here – didn’t comb them out yet!)

In Canada they’re available at most mass market retailers (I’m sure it’s the same in the US) and retailing for $10.99 Canadian I think they’re a great deal for the richness and colour you get.

Have you tried these eye shadows out yet?  Which colour is your favorite?

  • Trying out @fentyskin’s Cookies & Clean Detox Face Mask! I love a good mask, and goodness knows my skin needs a bit of help nowadays! ➡️This is one of the products I featured in my blog post about Black-owned beauty brands. I love that it’s not too drying, makes my skin feel refreshed, is cruelty-free, and is part of the Clean at Sephora collection! Have you checked out anything from Fenty Beauty or Fenty Skin? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #blackownedbeauty #blackownedbusinesses #cleanskincare #fentyskin #cleanatsephora #claymask #charcoalmask #crueltyfree #crueltyfreeskincare #crueltyfreebeauty #torontopr #torontoblogger #selfcaresunday #skincareroutine #skincarejunkie #skincarelover #cleanskin
  • I got Botox! (Technically, I got Nuceiva, which is a different brand of neuromodulator, but does the same thing) I’ve been feeling uncomfortable with the fine lines on my forehead, and wanted to try out neuromodulators! It was easier and much less painful than I anticipated, but definitely was a bit of an emotional journey. ➡️ I got 24 units during this visit, at a cost of $11 each. (Cost will vary depending on brand of neuromodulator, the clinic you choose, and the person who does the treatment) ➡️ This treatment will probably last around 3 months, and then will
  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan!
