SKIN CARE FEATURE: 2nd Chances – Kellett Skincare

Posted on October 21, 2013March 30, 2020 by Elaine

Do you ever try a product out even for a while and you’re just not feeling it? I do that ALL the time. And let’s face it, just like meeting a person first impressions are everything. Since I have so many products to test out my first impressions can be made hastily so sometimes I will give products a second chance. Most times my first thoughts were correct but every once in a while I am pleasantly surprised!

Kellett Clear Skincare Kit
I wrote about the Kellett Clear Skincare Regmin kit last year. At the time I stated my skin was way too sensitive for the line – especially the Clarifying Acne Treatment which contained benzoyl peroxide.
Well, I was fed up with my skin constantly breaking out and not having time to heal so I actually decided to visit Dr. Lisa Kellett herself for a consult. I am not sure what your experience with dermatologists are but my past experience was not a good one. I waited 2.5 hours to see a dermatologist once and he didn’t even look at my skin when he walked in. Just opened my file and told me to go on meds, gave me a pamphlet and left the room. So believe me when I say I was COMPLETELY turned off by the thought of going through that again but I have to say even though she is a busy lady Dr. Kellett took her time with me and actually LOOKED at my skin carefully.
Her diagnoses was that I was using products that were too heavy for my skin so she asked me if I was comfortable going back on her line of products. Of course I was hesitant since I had already tried them but I thought at the very least if they didn’t work for me she would see that I gave it try. So I tried them out again for two weeks but this time with the guidance of Dr. Kellett and some of her team.
I sort of hate to admit it….but when I followed their instructions my skin improved dramatically. Here are the steps I followed:
Morning:
1. Cleanse with Polishing Gel Cleanser.
2.Apply SPF 30 Sunscreen Spray to hands then apply onto face.
3. Apply 1 – 2 pumps of Moisturizing Gel to hand and apply onto face.
Night:
1. Cleanse with Polishing Gel Cleanser. (Note – this cleanser was NOT enough to remove all my makeup so I use a cleansing oil to remove my makeup first then cleans with this cleanser)
2. Apply a pea size amount of of the Clarifying Acne Treatment to my index finger. Dab my other index finger into the product and dot the product onto my forehead, cheeks and chin then spread onto face.
3. Apply 1 – 2 pumps of Moisturizing Gel as above.
Step 2 in the night routine is the KEY I believe. Honestly after 2 weeks the inflammation went down and I no longer had pistules forming daily (sorry, TMI!) I was worried my skin would feel too tight and dry with such little moisturizer but it didn’t.
I am happy to report that I’ve been using this entire line (properly) since May and my skin is feeling pretty good!

I’m still using this line religiously and it’s working well for me. I’m so glad I gave it a second chance.

So how about you?  Any products you’ve given a second chance to and have been pleasantly surprised?

  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan! Do you prefer shellac, bio-gel, dip, or natural nails? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #springmani #dippowdernails #dipmanicure #toronto #torontonails #torontopr #dipnails #nailinspo #bluenails #shortnails #opidippowder #organicnailbar #organicnailbarto #kingwest #freshnails #nailstagram #simplenails #nailsalon
