What I love about summer is that it’s all about paired down makeup but experimenting with bright colours. I was so excited to see these beautiful Stila summer perfect colours and products – hopefully you will be too!
I’m not a huge fan of cc creams and bb creams in general unless they offer better than average coverage. This STILA CC Color Correcting Cream pictured above is in shade Fair 01 and it a bit light for me now that I have a bit of a tan. It has a slightly green based formula which I’m not sure you can see in the photo – but it’s formulated to colour correct any redness you may have and smooth out hyperpigmentation over time. This product would be ideal for someone that doesn’t like to wear a lot of makeup and just needs to smooth out their skin tone a bit. I definitely need more coverage then it can offer 😉
Pictured above are swatches of the Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Midnight Green and the Stay All Day Vinyl Lip Glosses in Hot Pink 03; Melon 02; Fuchsia 01 and Poppy 08.
I really like this liner. Although it is pretty much black with hints of green, on the eyes it’s a soft black liner to me. It goes on smoothly without tugging and I can use it in my waterline. I am able to smudge it out before it sets and then it’s pretty much on all day! It also removes easily with an oil cleanser.
The Lip Glosses are so pigmented and beautiful – but they were a little harder to wear. I had to be SUPER careful when applying them and I kept a cotton swab on hand in case there were mistakes. If you’re going to try these out I recommend that you exfoliate your lips as any dry flakes will be accentuated and it’s really hard to fix afterwards. You also need to take care to lightly blot and take the time to layer this on thinly to get the desired effect. Also take the time to check the corners of your mouth where the product can build up.
Scared yet? Haha – really they’re not that bad – and they make a BEAUTIFUL statement lip for summer that is shiny and glossy. I attempted to wear all four colours (sorry for the different lighting – I took the photos when I was actually wearing them for the day!):
Hot Pink 03
I actually really like ALL the colours. When I first tried out the hot pink I was little taken aback – it reminded me of the 80’s when everything was baby blue and baby pink! But throughout the day I actually got used to it. I don’t bother reapplying throughout the day as I find it takes way too long to get it “perfect”; they also leave a nice stain behind so I usually just use a clear lip balm or gloss over top when I need to re-moisturize. While these aren’t the most sticky glosses I’ve tried they probably aren’t the best choice on a really windy day 😉
If you’re a lip product expert then I say go for these – they give such a pretty punch of colour. If you’re more low maintenance then I would say these glosses probably aren’t the best choice for you.
Tip: if you don’t care for the super glossy high shine look, apply the gloss and just blot a couple times with a tissue. You’ll have a really nice pigmented stain that will last all day! It’s also a more wearable way to wear these glosses for everyday 🙂
