STYLE & BEAUTY NEWS: Wantable

Posted on April 25, 2013 by Elaine

So you’re familiar with subscription boxes right? There are ones for beauty samples, nail polish…I think even shoes!

I was recently contacted by Wantable.co and I’ll admit that I was skeptical. There are so many boxes out there and to tell you truth I feel like they are all the same!

What struck my interest was that Wantable.co – soon to be shipping to Canada – has a jewellery box! I actually think this is a BRILLIANT idea. Why? Well I feel like jewellery isn’t necessarily something you buy all the time – and I personally tend to gravitate towards the same type of jewellery so before I know it I have five of the same type of necklace.

So the concept of receiving a few pieces of jewellery in the mail was very intriguing for me. Each wantable box (beauty or jewellery) is $40 or $36 with a subscription. With the beauty box you actually get 4 – 6 full sized premium products and with the jewellery box you get 4 – 5 boutique jewellery items.

Since I ordered the jewellery box I cannot speak for the ordering process of the beauty box so I will focus on the jewellery box from now on.

The process was really simple. You choose between a makeup or jewellery box and follow the links to get started. A bunch of questions are asked of you to get to know your personal style. I think this is especially important for jewellery as you want to limit the amount of pieces you receive that you won’t wear!
First you rate “love, like, dislike” from different categories such as classic, trendy etc. You then get to pick which type of jewellery you prefer – this is perfect since if you don’t have your ears pierced for example you wouldn’t want to receive earrings! The next step is picking out which tones of jewellery you prefer (silver vs gold etc). You then get to pick your ring size. The one thing I wish they might have included is a wrist size – maybe not EXACT size but x-small, small, medium, large, x-large?
So here is what I received in my Wantable.co jewellery box:

Gorgeous over sized floral bangle

Gold and turquoise bracelet + stretch ring

Gold and turquoise earring and necklace set
I am over the moon about this box! I loved every single piece that I received!! Unfortunately the first bracelet is waaay too big for my small frame and it could easily fall off. It would look absolutely amazing on ladies that can pull off chunkier statement pieces.
One of my favourite pieces is the gold and turquoise bracelet. It’s adjustable and I love wearing it along with gold watch from mark by Avon.

The ring I do like but it only fits on my index finger and is still slightly loose so I may have to gift that and the bangle to a friend 🙂

Do I think that $40 is worth this box for the items I am able to wear? Absolutely! I love all the pieces – unfortunately I can only wear three of the items but those are still definitely worth $40 in my opinion. Shipping to Canada is $5 – so $45 – still worth it in my opinion. Here’s where it gets tricky – there are duties and taxes. Taxes are easy to calculate depending on where you live but sometimes duties can be tricky so be sure to do a complete calculation ahead of time and assume you will be happy with 1/2 of the items in the box (to be safe!) and determine if you think the price is worth it for you.
As for the beauty box I did not order since…let’s face it…I have way too many beauty products as it is! But I did quickly go through the customization and it’s REALLY thorough – asking what types of products you like and the colours/textures of each type of product. I have to say it’s one of the most thought out surveys I have taken!
At the moment Wantable is offering up a FREE box to Canadians! Hurry and sign up and you will get details on receiving your second box for free…shipping will start soon and when that happens the offer will be over!

***Disclosure: I received this box courtesy of Wantable.co for review consideration***

  • Nail extensions that last weeks but don’t damage your natural nails?!?! Check out the process for getting Après-X nail extensions! There aren’t many salons in Toronto that offer this service, but so far, I’m a fan! I love bio-gel, but I have the WEAKEST nails, so after I get the extensions removed, my nails shred and take forever to grow back out. I heard about this soak-off style, and couldn’t wait to check it out for myself! I haven’t gotten them removed yet, but I’ll update you all when I do! ✅ durable like bio-gel ✅ light and thin ✅✅✅
  • The big reveal!!! TL;DR - removal was painless and left my nails in a WAYYYY better state than with dip or bio-gel removal I did still have some trouble with the ends being thin (defs needed to trim the length so they wouldn’t rip ), but the rest of the nail bed was so much more comfortable and healthy-looking than when I’ve had other long-wear manis removed ✅ All in all, I’d say I’m definitely an Après-X convert! Especially as someone who doesn’t want to get a mani every month, this is perfect for special occasions. The nails were really

  • Lip balm that changes color depending on your skin’s pH?! @winky_lux pH Lip Balm goes on clear, then transforms to a perfect color based on your skin’s pH (level of acidity). It’s so fun to see what color the balm becomes! It’s giving major mood ring vibes The formula is silky (not sticky), and the color lasts pretty well! So far, I’m impressed.
