SUMMER ROUNDUP: Summer 2013 Beach Essentials

Posted on June 19, 2013 by Elaine
So…can we say that Summer is FINALLY around the corner? Officially it will be here Friday! I asked Ashley to round up some summer beach essentials to get us all in the mood! Check out her picks!

*****

Beautysets - Summer 2013 Beach Essentials

Summer 2013 is fast approaching – are you ready?

I’ve got a couple picks for you to make sure your primed and prepped for the upcoming summer heat. Furthermore, I’ve got some fun items that will keep you entertained while you bask in the summer heat. We’ve got everything you need for a day in the sun! Keep reading for my 2013 Beach Essentials!

VEET Hair Removal Kit: First up for summer – de-fuzz! The wonderful addition of the sun means that us women have to be extra careful with hair removal. Unsightly ingrown hairs and razor rash are harder to hide in the summer months. Lucky for us, Veet has provided us with a sensitive formula designed especially for our sensitive areas (i.e. the underarms, bikini areas). Formulated with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E, this two step process includes an application cream and a finishing cream. Best of all, the Removal Kit is effective on hair as short as 0.3mm. Wowza! With Veet being the worldwide leader in depilatories, you know you’re in safe hands to ensure a clean skin canvas!

SEDUCTION by M.J. Rose: What’s a day at the beach without a good beach read? SEDUCTION by M.J. Rose provides you with a great suspenseful, can’t put it down, beach read. While you’re lying in the sun getting a (healthy, with sunscreen applied) glow, get lost in the world of the supernatural, Victor Hugo, and the other side. With a story that takes place in the past (Victor Hugo’s part) and the present, read how M.J Rose spins a web of supernatural imagination. Victor Hugo has just lost his beloved daughter in a freak drowning accident. In order to regain contact with her, he starts taking part in seances, where he claims to have communicated not only with his daughter, but with Shakespeare, Dante, Jesus … and the Devil himself. Intrigued yet?

Simons Swimwear: If there is one thing that can make you feel good at the beach, it’s a good piece of swimwear. If you remember from Elaine’s recent style feature on Simons Swimwear, you’ll know that they recently launched their 2013 Summer swimwear collection. Most important fact of swimwear shopping – shop for the body you have, not the body you want. Never underestimate the power of a well defined swimsuit.

COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Gloss Balm with SPF 15: Even though you’re relaxing in the sun, doesn’t mean you should neglect your lips! With this COVERGIRL gloss balm, you’ve got a  touch of colour in some perfect summer shades will coat your lips with colour will providing protection against the harsh summer rays. Infused with mango,
shea butter, and SPF protection? Perfection.

NEUTROGENA Ultra-Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen: After going to Cuba last year and using this SPF, I’ll never use another. This sunscreen is THAT good. It provides broad spectrum protection against UVA / UVB rays while having an ultra-light and non-shiny finish. Gone  is the disgusting sticky feeling that sunscreen can sometimes leave behind. It literally melts into your skin and provides long-lasting sun protection. And if you plan on being outside in the summer, you need SPF protection.

tarte Cosmetics ‘Aqualillies’ Collection: A collection inspired by the US Synchronized Swimming team? You know these lovelies are waterproof! If you’re going to venture out in the summer with makeup, you best be sure that it’s smudge proof, sweat proof, and water proof. The Aqualillies collection by tarte cosmetics provides all of these things. And with so many choices – eyeliners, lipsticks, eyeshadow quads – you can even wear it to the beach!

So those are my 2013 Summer Beach Essentials! What do you think?

  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan! Do you prefer shellac, bio-gel, dip, or natural nails? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #springmani #dippowdernails #dipmanicure #toronto #torontonails #torontopr #dipnails #nailinspo #bluenails #shortnails #opidippowder #organicnailbar #organicnailbarto #kingwest #freshnails #nailstagram #simplenails #nailsalon
  • Trying out @fentyskin’s Cookies & Clean Detox Face Mask! I love a good mask, and goodness knows my skin needs a bit of help nowadays! ➡️This is one of the products I featured in my blog post about Black-owned beauty brands. I love that it’s not too drying, makes my skin feel refreshed, is cruelty-free, and is part of the Clean at Sephora collection! Have you checked out anything from Fenty Beauty or Fenty Skin? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #blackownedbeauty #blackownedbusinesses #cleanskincare #fentyskin #cleanatsephora #claymask #charcoalmask #crueltyfree #crueltyfreeskincare #crueltyfreebeauty #torontopr #torontoblogger #selfcaresunday #skincareroutine #skincarejunkie #skincarelover #cleanskin
  • I got Botox! (Technically, I got Nuceiva, which is a different brand of neuromodulator, but does the same thing) I’ve been feeling uncomfortable with the fine lines on my forehead, and wanted to try out neuromodulators! It was easier and much less painful than I anticipated, but definitely was a bit of an emotional journey. ➡️ I got 24 units during this visit, at a cost of $11 each. (Cost will vary depending on brand of neuromodulator, the clinic you choose, and the person who does the treatment) ➡️ This treatment will probably last around 3 months, and then will
