SWIFT STYLE: Shopping at Marshalls

Posted on May 15, 2013 by Elaine

I don’t really get to shop too much these days but I had an hour to kill a few weekends ago and stopped into a Marshalls – I had been to Marshalls before but usually just on a quick lunch time jaunt so normally I stick to the accessories section. This time I decided to check out the clothes and was pleasantly surprised (though I left empty handed!)

Now I know all Marshalls stores – just like Winners – are different so I was at the one near the 401 and Winston Churchill in Mississauga.

My first impressions was that the store was very clean and everything looked really organized. I picked up a few things to try on in the dressing room.
Two of the items were from Pink Tartan! I was pleasantly surprised at that!
First up was this gorgeous dress – I picked up the 0 for reference.

I absolutely loved the cut and colour of this dress but unfortunately is was too big all around and made me look even shorter! I’m sorry I don’t recall the price but I believe it was just over $100.
I also tried on a dress from French Connection Canada – it was a summer maxi dress for about $40 I think…it would have been perfect for vacation!

Unfortunately it was SUPER tight and I probably wouldn’t be able to wear any type of undergarment with it LOL!
Next I tried on a really cute pants from both Pink Tartan and a brand called Amanda + Chelsea.
Can you tell which is which?

They are virtually identical! The Pink Tartan pants (left and top) were $99 while the Amanda + Chelsea ones were $30. I will say the material on the Pink Tartan pants felt better – I feel like they would probably last longer.
The Amanda + Chelsea pants actually fit me better but both of them were too big (actually I think they both supposed to be cropped pants – therefore both much too long!)
So my shopping trip to Marshalls wasn’t very successful this time around but I don’t feel too sad – on my previous trip (which I forgot to post!) I managed to pick up this gorgeous Soia & Kyo Trench coat that I had been eyeing for only $99!!!

It’s water resistant and has a removable capelet – love it!

Have you scored anything from Marshalls or Winners lately?

  • A moody day outside calls for some @givenchybeauty glamor! I’ve always been a fan of their Prisme Libre loose powder, and the newest addition to the Prisme Libre line is just as gorgeous. It delivers 24-hr matte finish, blurs imperfections, and contains skincare ingredients like capucine extract, annatto, and pink clay to purify and strengthen skin over time! Makeup with a side of skincare is a combo I can definitely get behind! Have you tried the Prisme Libre line from Givenchy? *products kindly gifted —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #torontopr #tbrcontributors #mytbrfave #givenchybeauty #luxurybeauty #foundation #skincaredaily #prismelibre #prismelibreskincaringmatte #skincaringmakeup #makeupessentials #makeupaddict #givenchycanada #magicdust

  • A quick reminder that Pride doesn’t stop after June. As I mentioned in my Pride post last year, I’m very aware of the privilege I hold as a White, cis, straight-passing queer woman. Celebrating Pride openly is not a risk to my safety. I can choose to whom I disclose my orientation and when. My identity is generally not seen as a threat or a negative thing. This is absolutely not the case for so many in the 2SLGBTQ+ community. ➡️ As companies move away from the “rainbow washing” of their branding for the month of June, please continue to
