TESTING, TESTING: Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation

Posted on September 17, 2013 by Elaine

When I sent Ashley to the the Make Up For Ever Seminar at the Canadian Beauty College she of course could not leave empty handed! She was kind enough to provide a detailed review of her favourite purchase from that day.

If you remember from my Canadian Beauty College post, I recently attended a Make Up For Ever beauty tutorial course with an educated Make Up For Ever makeup artist.
And we all know, with beauty tutorials comes beauty buying!
I picked up a few MUFE beauty essentials, all hand chosen by the MUFE instructor. My personal favourite of the bunch? My perfectly swatched, perfectly matched HD Foundation in Pink Porcelain.

N110 Foundation

Product: Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation in 110 Pink Porcelain

Price: $42.00 (CAN)

Available: At your local Sephora or MUFE seller (for instance, the Canadian Beauty College is a MUFE seller)

What It Claims: “…an oil free full coverage liquid foundation that covers imperfections while remaining invisible…”

Review: Here was my issue with foundation – the dreaded neckline. You could 100% tell when I was wearing foundation because there was a noticeable colour difference between my neck and my face. My problem? Too fair skin. The tones and shades sold by the drugstore brands were made for the masses, so I was forced to conform.

Here’s where MUFE HD Foundation is different. The foundation is available in 26 shades that all differ based on cool or warm undertones, and skin colour.

  HD Foundation Collage
I was matched with 110 Pink Porcelain. Who knew I had porcelain skin! This HD foundation is a perfect match; it’s almost as if MUFE made this foundation exclusively for me. Even without blending, the shade is a perfect match for my skin. The finish is nice, light, and dewy. With it being HD foundation, I thought it might be heavy, but it’s actually quite the opposite. Zero oil makes this foundation absolutely perfect for those with oily skin.

Best part? The foundation has massive staying power. I don’t need to reapply once during the day – unheard of with my regular drugstore foundation. I currently apply with a foundation brush; I find it makes all the difference for long-lasting wearability. Would I ever change back to my regular drugstore foundation? Not anytime soon.

Foundation Matching Tip: As provided by Jacquie, the MUFE expert I met at the Canadian Beauty College, foundation matching is all in the swipe. Most of us try to match foundations against the back of our hands – big NO NO. Also, most of us try to match foundation by blending – another NO NO. According to Jacqui, foundations should be swiped onto the cheek for a solid match. Once swiped, leave the foundation on the skin for a few minutes to allow it to absorb. The skin will naturally pick out which foundation is best for you WITHOUT blending – the foundation that is most naturally matched against your skin tone without blending is your winner.

Verdict: Well worth the expensive price tag. Who doesn’t want to wear the makeup the stars are wearing?

Is anyone else in love with Make Up For Ever foundation? What’s your shade?

I’m sooo happy that Ash found a foundation she loves! I know she has a lot of trouble with finding the right shade. Sounds like the MUFE foundations are a good choice for those with hard to match skin tones!

Two years feels like it’s gone by in an instant, and yet I can hardly remember what life was like before you came into our lives. Here’s to many more years of couch snuggles, hikes, vegan wheat-free treats, playdates with your bestie @ripley_the_terrier, and sleepovers with @llabc.ca when Adam & I need a break We love you, Goose. : First pic is by the insanely talented @alexa.studios —————————————————————————— #gotchaday #torontodogs #dogstagram #torontowedding #distillerydistrict #mytbrfave #torontobeautyreviews #tbrcontributors
  • You *know* I had to! Once I had my wedding hair & makeup trial, I put the look TO WORKKK! ✏️ To get a sense of how my look would perform on my wedding day, I did: ✅ a humidity test ✅ a transfer test ✅ a kiss test ✅ a food test ✅ a crying test ✅ an exertion test It was a ton of fun and really gave me a sense of how the look would handle the various stresses of a wedding day. The tests showed what worked well and where we needed to make some small
