Testing out the YP App

Posted on June 3, 2014June 3, 2014 by Elaine

Since everyone has a computer and cell phone now there’s really no need for the traditional phone book. I often wondered what would happen to the “Yellow Pages” but turns out they have evolved too into YP.ca and now there’s this really cool phone app called “YP App”. I checked it out over the past week and I have to say I’m pretty impressed!

Check out how convenient the search page is. The majority of the time I’m looking for a place to meet up with someone for coffee or I’m looking for a place to eat nearby. The husband and I were actually out near the Ottawa area when we needed a caffeine fix. Luckily the YP app showed us exactly where the nearest Starbucks was.

What was also pretty cool, was that there was a “deals” section listed right on the same page, that I could take advantage of right from my phone!

Also, before heading back to Toronto we needed to buy gas. I LOVE how convenient it was to search for the closest gas station – you could even look up the current prices too!

Another time this app came in handy was when I was making plans to meet up with someone. We chose a place but they were unfamiliar with it. So right from the app I was able to look up directions and send it to them via text.

It’s great for group meet ups too, as you can also share it on facebook and twitter so you can do it all in one shot.

If you’re looking for a restaurant nearby it’s also very convenient as you can read reviews right from the app.
YP-app-sushi-timeIf you noticed, at the top right hand corner of screen shot above, there is an address book and a bookmark icon. Sushi Time is actually one of my go to places so you can see there is a check mark on the address book – this tells me I have their contact information saved already 😉 If I didn’t however, all I’d have to do is click on the address book and it gets saved to my contacts list. I can save it to my favourites within the YP app itself too for easy reference by clicking on the bookmark icon.

Here’s a quick video so you can see how it will work on your phone:

I am not a huge app person since I find a lot of the times they don’t work or take too long to load, and it’s just easier to use the internet on my phone; but honestly, this app works so well and it’s so useful! To learn more about this app go to YP.ca. If you have an iphone you can download it from iTunes. Or if you use an Android phone like me go to Google Play.

I’d love to know what you think about it and hope it works as well for you as it does for me!

  • You *know* I had to! Once I had my wedding hair & makeup trial, I put the look TO WORKKK! ✏️ To get a sense of how my look would perform on my wedding day, I did: ✅ a humidity test ✅ a transfer test ✅ a kiss test ✅ a food test ✅ a crying test ✅ an exertion test It was a ton of fun and really gave me a sense of how the look would handle the various stresses of a wedding day. The tests showed what worked well and where we needed to make some small
