Too Faced Love Palette Tutorial

Posted on March 9, 2016March 8, 2016 by Laura

Everyone loves a smokey eye right? When this gorgeous palette landed in my beauty mail pile I knew I had to do a smokey eye look with it! I hope you’ll enjoy my Too Faced Love Palette Tutorial!

{Smokey Eye Too Faced Love Palette Tutorial}

I decided to create a fun smokey eye look perfect that would be for a night out with the ladies or maybe with someone special. Here is a breakdown of all the steps I took, some pro tips, plus the products I used.

  • Prime The Face

It’s always great to begin with a clean face that’s moisturised and ready for your makeup. For a long lasting look try using a primer. I recommend finding the right primer for your skin type. For example, if you have oily skin you may want to use an oil control primer. My personal favourite is Nurturing Force Blot Out Offensive. This product is popular with many makeup artists and it’s a staple in my pro kit. Another great primer for oily skin that’s readily available is the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Primer in Matte.  For dry skin you can try the MUFE Step 1 Primer in Nourish or hydrate.

  • Start with the Eyes

When doing a smokey eye look, once the face is prepped I like to start with the eyes before any skin makeup; it makes it much easier to clean up any fall out and not worry about disturbing the added foundation. To prep the eyes I used the Too faced Shadow Insurance.

Now on to the gorgeous Too Faced Love palette! It’s a beautiful and fun palette full of pretty colours. It includes 15 colours with a range of shimmer, pearl and matte textures so it’s perfect for a variety of different looks.

I used “Smitten” as my highlight underneath my brow bone, “Sweetie Pie” in the centre of the lid for a pop of colour, and mixed “Passion” and “Obsessed” in the crease.  I also added a bit of “Amorous” to intensify the look by adding a bit in the outer corner of the crease and under the bottom lash line for drama.

I used the creamy black pencil included in the palette which was great for smudging, along the top lash line which added to the smokey effect. I finished off the eyes with several coats of my current favourite mascara: Benefit Roller Lash Mascara.

  • Complete the Face

For foundation I used the AJ Crimson cream foundations to highlight and softly contour. The idea was to create a flawless complexion without going overboard.  I then added a little blush, MAC in Fleur Power.

  • Don’t Forget the Brows!

Filling in the brows is a really important step for a smokey eye look. If you forget about the brows the look will look unfinished! I filled mine in with the Anastasia brow Wiz in Espresso to give them definition and depth. Check out a great dupe for this product in one of previous posts!

  • Finish Off with the Lips

Finally for lips I was going to go nude but decided, what the heck lets go BOLD! I used the Too Faced Melted liquid lipstick in “Melted Berry”.

  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan! Do you prefer shellac, bio-gel, dip, or natural nails? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #springmani #dippowdernails #dipmanicure #toronto #torontonails #torontopr #dipnails #nailinspo #bluenails #shortnails #opidippowder #organicnailbar #organicnailbarto #kingwest #freshnails #nailstagram #simplenails #nailsalon
  • I got Botox! (Technically, I got Nuceiva, which is a different brand of neuromodulator, but does the same thing) I’ve been feeling uncomfortable with the fine lines on my forehead, and wanted to try out neuromodulators! It was easier and much less painful than I anticipated, but definitely was a bit of an emotional journey. ➡️ I got 24 units during this visit, at a cost of $11 each. (Cost will vary depending on brand of neuromodulator, the clinic you choose, and the person who does the treatment) ➡️ This treatment will probably last around 3 months, and then will
  • Trying out @fentyskin’s Cookies & Clean Detox Face Mask! I love a good mask, and goodness knows my skin needs a bit of help nowadays! ➡️This is one of the products I featured in my blog post about Black-owned beauty brands. I love that it’s not too drying, makes my skin feel refreshed, is cruelty-free, and is part of the Clean at Sephora collection! Have you checked out anything from Fenty Beauty or Fenty Skin? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #blackownedbeauty #blackownedbusinesses #cleanskincare #fentyskin #cleanatsephora #claymask #charcoalmask #crueltyfree #crueltyfreeskincare #crueltyfreebeauty #torontopr #torontoblogger #selfcaresunday #skincareroutine #skincarejunkie #skincarelover #cleanskin
