Travel Easily with Cocoon Apothecary

Posted on March 13, 2017March 30, 2020 by Sohnee

March break kicks off travel season for most people so you’re probably looking for travel-sized products, right? If you’re wanting products made with natural ingredients that are vegan and cruelty-free, check out this Kitchener-based company, Cocoon Apothecary. I have sensitive skin, so whenever I’m approached to try something that’s reportedly designed for sensitive skin, I’m always up for the challenge.

Skin Care Starter Kit

Cocoon Apothecary’s Skin Care Starter Kit ($30) includes:

  • An oil-based facial cleanser,
  • Rose dew facial toner, and
  • Rosehip oil-based face cream.

All three come in cute packaging with a pump; or in the case of the toner, a misting top, which allows you to control the exact amount of product that comes out. What I liked about the cleanser is that it felt gentle on my skin and didn’t feel like I was stripping my skin of essential oils. It washes away clean without any residue.

The toning mist had a nice, mild floral scent. Unlike some other toners out there, I didn’t feel a burning sensation and instead, my face felt refreshed. You can either spray it directly onto your face or put some on a cotton ball and then apply it to your face. I like shortcuts in my morning routine, so I sprayed it all over my face and it was a great way to start my day!

The moisturizer was a bit greasy for my skin (I have oily skin), but it did a good job at keeping my skin moisturized.

Ancient Mud Mask

I think the stand-out product from this brand, for me, is the Cocoon Apothecary Ancient Mud Mask ($26).

This cooling mask dries without a burning sensation. You’re probably wondering, “Why would it burn?” I had the same thought before I tried a few other masks out there – some can really burn when they’re drying! If anything, I really liked using this mask because I could only smell roses and not mud or dirt! While it dried, I could feel the mask tightening my skin. When you’re washing it off, it actually crumbles away, exfoliating your skin in the process. Overall, it did a great job at keeping my skin soft and clean while giving it a nice boost in tightness.

Cocoon Apothecary’s brand of green skin care can be purchased through their website,  or through Well.ca. Both of these items will travel easily and are great to have on vacation with you!
