A Trip to Parlour Salon

Posted on June 29, 2016July 1, 2016 by Elaine

Recently I took a trip to The Beaches – a very popular neighborhood in Toronto that I rarely get to! The purpose of my visit to that end of the city was to check out Parlour Salon and a couple of their signature treatments.

I booked an appointment for a much needed cut and colour provided by Karissa and Stephan. After a dry cut by Karissa to create more shape and bring my curls back to life, I was in Stephan’s capable hands to add a reddish hue to my old highlights and to cover my greys!

But this wasn’t just an ordinary colour job. Stephan used the Olaplex process to get the most out of my colour treatment.

Parlour Salon offers the 3 step Olaplex process as an addition to your colour booking. The first step of the process is added right into the hair colour. If you’ve ever coloured your hair before, you may have experienced a bit of tingling as the colour is applied. With the Olaplex treatment this tingling seemed to be “neutralized” for me; it would be a great option to consider if you have a sensitive scalp.

The Olaplex process is especially recommended for:

  • those to change their hair colour frequently
  • going from dark to light
  • going for “fashion” shades

The second part of the process occurs after the colour has been washed out. The Olaplex sits on the hair like a leave in conditioner for about 10 minutes and is then rinsed out. Part 3 of the process is called the “Hair Perfector #3” (pictured above). This is a take home treatment that’s available for purchase and is to be used once a week to help strengthen the hair and to prolong it’s health and therefore colour.

This is a side-by-side of my hair before and after! My hair has a red hue to it and felt much healthier and lighter!

I actually went back to Parlour Salon about a week after my initial visit for a fun event in support of Toronto Dog Rescue Save Our Scruff. I had so much fun getting pampered and playing with the dogs!

The Parlour Salon staff was kind enough to provide an extra Olaplex treatment to my hair and blow dry it for me.

Another treatment they were offering at the event was the Nioxin treatment. This treatment is meant for those with thin or thining hair. It’s similar to a dermabrasion process for the skin.

In the before and after photo above, you can see the “roughness” of the scalp prior to the Nioxin treatment compared to the smoother look of the scalp afterwards. This gentle exfoliation process removes build-up around the hair follicles to help skin regenerate. While I don’t need to use this treatment now, I may look into after my little one makes his/her appearance. It’s common for new moms to suffer hair loss so it’s good to know there are hair solutions out there!

I was super happy with both my cut, colour and especially the Olaplex treatment. Parlour Salon has 2 locations so if you’re looking for a new salon you’ll want to check them out!

  • This is a long video, and a change from our typical content, but it’s something I really wanted to hear your thoughts on. Did this sports team miss an opportunity? Was my student’s question too tough or unrealistic? We still had lots of fun at the pep rally, but the rewording of this question really bugged me. Is “follow your dreams” a satisfying answer in this case? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #womeninsports #feminist #sexism #aagpbl #domore #mlb #sexisminsport #likeagirl #femaleathlete #foodforthought #bluejays #tbjwintertour #torontobluejays

  • Happy NYE, folks! For those who had a great 2022, cheers a fab end to a fab year. To those for whom 2022 was not so great - toast to a new beginning! Either way, hopefully you’re able to find a moment for gratitude and comfort tonight. ✨❤️ Wearing: @ardellbeauty Magnetic Megahold lashes* @cheekbonebeauty Sustain complexion pencils* 1, 2, and 6 + Sustain eye pencil in green turquoise @lorealparis Brow Stylist Frame & Set in 214 @cbvisage lipliner in Rescue Me *Products kindly gifted —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #ardellholiday #cheekbonebeauty #crueltyfreemakeup #carylbakervisage #redhead #torontopr #torontomakeup #nyemakeup #holidaymakeup #simpleglam #tbrcontributors #bye2022

  • ✨ REST IS PRODUCTIVE ✨ @adam__malek got me this sticker for Christmas, and I genuinely cried when I saw it. I need the reminder. The idea that productivity = self-worth is so damaging, and one that is often marketed heavily in the new year. I struggle with the “I haven’t been busy enough to deserve a rest - guess I’ll just take on too many projects and then revenge procrastinate because of burnout and get no sleep, then scramble and feel like I need to do even more!” cycle. I feel compelled to list everything I’ve done on the weekend
