Winterize Your Beauty Routine With These 4 Products

Posted on January 7, 2014March 30, 2020 by Elaine
I’m born and raised in Toronto/GTA and I can’t remember the weather being this COLD! Part of me thinks I’m just getting older and wimpier but another part of me believes it’s Mother Nature acting out on us and we’re now feeling the affects of climate change. Either way, if you haven’t already done so it’s time to change up your beauty routine and make it work for Winter! Check out 4 of Ashley’s suggestions.
*****
Winter-Beauty-RoundUp Brrrr – it’s definitely winter in Toronto! Harsh winds and frigid temperatures can make for some interesting side effects on our skin and hair. Without the beautiful summer rays, our skin can become lifeless, dull and dry. Without humidity, our hair becomes like a science attraction with all that static!

What’s the best way to salvage your beauty routine for the next couple months? By simply adding a few essential items to your already existent routine!

… for the hair

Dove-Shampoo-&-Conditioner

PRODUCT: Dove Daily Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner

PRICE: $3.99 – $5.99 per bottle (depending on retailer)

AVAILABLE: Major drugstores across Canada

HOW IT HELPS: This amazing two-step hair process is perfect for anyone who suffers with static hair in the wintertime. With colder weather, our hair is zapped from the essential nutrients and moisture that makes it so bouncy and soft in the summer. It’s time to reintroduce that essential moisture back into our hair!

With Dove’s Daily Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner, we’ve got a moisturizer that adds 5x the moisture for a smoother and clearer hair care feel. I’ve been using this product non-stop for a week, and my hair is oh-so-grateful.

…for the skin (day)

 Dot & Lil Serum

PRODUCT: Dot & Lil Facial Serum

PRICE: $30.00 CAN

AVAILABLE: On Dot & Lil’s e-site

HOW IT HELPS:  I’ve raved about this product in the past (see my original Dot & Lil Facial Serum review here). Last winter, this product single-handedly saved my skin from extreme dehydration. This multi-purpose formula is perfection when slathered over ‘fresh out of the shower’ skin. Got dry, flaky patches? This serum eliminates them instantaneously.

…for the skin (night)

Vichy Aqualia Cream

PRODUCT: Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night Spa

PRICE: Over $30.00 CAN

AVAILABLE: Shoppers Drug Mart

HOW IT HELPS: Is there anything better than walking up with smooth skin? This little jar is a spa package in a bottle – the 15 mineral-rich Thermal Spa Water and aqua-gel consistency makes for an intense boost of moisturization immediately. Using the beneficial natural aspects of sleep, this gel works all night to replenish your skins natural moisture balance.

The best part of Vichy’s line is that it’s completely hypoallergenic and paraben free. Interesting enough, for a product that’s fairly new on the market, it’s already a Chatelaine’s 100 Beauty Winner!

…for the body

The Body Shop Beautifying Oils

PRODUCT: The Body Shop Beautifying Oils

PRICE: $14.00 CAN

AVAILABLE: At all The Body Shop locations

HOW IT HELPS: I’m so happy that I was recommended this product – it’s changed my whole moisturization process! This multipurpose beauty oils are just as effective for the face and hair, but I’ve been mainly using it for the body. With a few drops, you’ve got enough oil to moisturize your body head to toe. Literally – only a handful of drops are required! Your skin instantly absorbs it and you’ll be feeling the smooth effects for over 24 hours guaranteed. Since it’s available in 12 different scents (everything from Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Satsuma, and Strawberry), you’re bound to find a scent of your choosing!

What’s your winter beauty routine?

  • Trying out @fentyskin’s Cookies & Clean Detox Face Mask! I love a good mask, and goodness knows my skin needs a bit of help nowadays! ➡️This is one of the products I featured in my blog post about Black-owned beauty brands. I love that it’s not too drying, makes my skin feel refreshed, is cruelty-free, and is part of the Clean at Sephora collection! Have you checked out anything from Fenty Beauty or Fenty Skin? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #blackownedbeauty #blackownedbusinesses #cleanskincare #fentyskin #cleanatsephora #claymask #charcoalmask #crueltyfree #crueltyfreeskincare #crueltyfreebeauty #torontopr #torontoblogger #selfcaresunday #skincareroutine #skincarejunkie #skincarelover #cleanskin
  • I got Botox! (Technically, I got Nuceiva, which is a different brand of neuromodulator, but does the same thing) I’ve been feeling uncomfortable with the fine lines on my forehead, and wanted to try out neuromodulators! It was easier and much less painful than I anticipated, but definitely was a bit of an emotional journey. ➡️ I got 24 units during this visit, at a cost of $11 each. (Cost will vary depending on brand of neuromodulator, the clinic you choose, and the person who does the treatment) ➡️ This treatment will probably last around 3 months, and then will
  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan! Do you prefer shellac, bio-gel, dip, or natural nails? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #springmani #dippowdernails #dipmanicure #toronto #torontonails #torontopr #dipnails #nailinspo #bluenails #shortnails #opidippowder #organicnailbar #organicnailbarto #kingwest #freshnails #nailstagram #simplenails #nailsalon
