Checking Out Covergirl

Posted on May 29, 2014March 30, 2020 by Alysia

Covergirl is kind of classic and staple go to product line. With so many products out there sometimes you can forget about the tried and true brands that are readily available. Recently, Alysia checked a few Covergirl products and here are her thoughts.

I like bold colours, or just plain black when it comes to makeup. I rarely ever do nudes, but I am starting to come around, and finding the right shades is helping me want to test out doing a natural face. I am not good with taking selfies and I find that you can never see the colour close up unless I cake it on (and that’s not me). Without some swatches – it was very hard to capture – so you are going to have to trust me on the nude shades I will be testing.

truMagic Luminizer (120 Shimmer Brill)

Now that summer is here, I am all about the j.Lo glow without the j.Lo price.  This gold luminizer is perfect, it highlights my cheekbones, bridge of my nose and just above my eyebrows. It is very creamy so it needs to be worked in a lot. I would powder up your face first to ensure that the product will set in and not rub off.

eyeEnhancers (265 Sheerly Nudes)

This palette is ideal for a natural/neutral look. There’s enough colour to notice that you are wearing eyeshadow but it’s not overpowering.  I remember seeing a photo of Jessica Alba wearing a neutral smoky eye (lined with brown instead of black) and with this palette, I was able to mimic her makeup.

Cheekers (180 Brick Rose)

I love this shade. When I tried to swatch it on my arm, I saw nothing, but when I applied it to my cheeks, it gave me a natural flush to my face. In the summer, when you have more of a sun kissed tan, this shade would definitely enhance it.

Flamed out shadow pencil

Shadow pencils are a quick and easy way to apply shadow; especially if you carry this in your purse and need to apply as a touch up, or are going out after work. You don’t have to bother bring multiple things (i.e. shadow and brush). The one thing that I am not thrilled about…the fact that you will have to sharpen it. The stick goes on smoothly and has this cooling sensation when you apply it. If you are into frosty metallic shadows, this is a product you should try.

Have you tried out any Covergirl products lately? What are your faves?

(Editor’s Note: I love the Covergirl Lipsticks so will do a post on that soon!)

The shadow pencils are really pretty, I am a big fan of shadow pencils for on the go. They just make touch ups so quick and easy! Great review 🙂

Me too! So much easier for travelling than carrying an eye shadow palette and brushes 🙂
