Autumn Skincare Additions

Posted on December 2, 2019March 30, 2020 by DJS

As we say goodbye to warm weather and worry less about sunscreen and summer glow, we can focus on how our skin reacts to the cooler, drier temperatures and being indoors for a greater part of the day. Read on to find out more about the autumn skincare additions I’ve made to my routine!

{Autumn Skincare Additions}

Disclaimer: The products below were provided to me at no cost for editorial consideration. All opinions are my own.

From yoghurt masks to hydrating lip balm, here are some of the products that have helped my skin transition to the new (cool) season.

A Probiotic Primer

The use of topical probiotic products is becoming popular in skincare. But what are probiotics, and why should we check out probiotic-containing products? Essentially, probiotics are helpful bacteria that protect the body from harmful bacteria. These microbes help create a well-balanced skin ecosystem. In fact, probiotics – when taken internally – have been found to improve the appearance of skin and combat some common skin problems.

Research has shown that topical probiotics can combat dry skin, acne, and even age spots. Many probiotic products include dairy, but unless you have a severe allergy to dairy products you should be fine using products that have a dairy component (like the yoghurt used in the products below). But we always recommend a patch test when trying something new.

Korres’ Greek Yogurt Collection

These two probiotic-packed products from Korres have been some of my most successful autumn skincare additions.  The Greek Yoghurt Foaming Cleanser ($30) has a rich texture and light scent. It lathers well and rinses off nicely, leaving my face feeling fresh and looking healthy. I don’t use the cleanser daily, but I do like to use it at least a couple of times a week, especially before using Korres’ new probiotic mask.

As you may remember from one of my first posts on TBR, I enjoy a good face mask now and then. Masks are hydrating and healing, and are key players in my pursuit of anti-aging, anti-wrinkle products. Korres’ Hydra-Biome Probiotic Supedose Face Mask ($63) is also made with Greek yoghurt, and is my second autumn skincare addition. I’ve used it several times over the two months, and was so impressed that I even shared it with my friends. I love hearing others’ experiences with and feedback on the products that I’m using!

Recently, I asked 3 of my friends to try the mask with me. We each applied a thick layer, and agreed that the mask had a pleasant scent and felt good on the skin. We especially enjoyed the cooling sensation the mask provided. (Pro Tip: for even more intense cooling, you can keep the mask in the refrigerator!) After 15 minutes, we rinsed the masks off with warm cloths, and everyone remarked on the healthy glow created by the mask, and how smooth our skin felt afterwards.

The Greek Yoghurt Collection, like all Korres products, contain natural ingredients, are produced ethically, and are not tested on animals. If you’re committed to supporting eco-friendly brands whose products are also extremely effective, Korres’ Greek Yoghurt Collection is definitely something to try.

Blistex Superfruit Soother

In Fall, I find the temperature change can dry out your lips. To help fight this dryness, I like to apply some lip balm before jumping on my bike as soon as the temperature drops below 10C. Lately, I’ve been using the new Superfruit Soother from Blistex (approx. $3.50), and my lips have been thanking me!

This aptly named Superfruit balm contains Cloudberry and Acai. Both are high-performing superfruits that contain antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals to turbo-charge your skincare. This berry combination provides a much-needed dose of Vitamin C and E to protect and hydrate your lips. It also has SPF 15. I like the subtle mint flavour, and the fact that the balm doesn’t leave a bright shine on my lips. Blistex’ Superfruit Soother has definitely helped my lips stay hydrated and protected in this transitional weather.

I hope my autumn skincare additions help you keep your skin healthy while fighting the drying effects of cooler temperatures!

  • Lip balm that changes color depending on your skin’s pH?! @winky_lux pH Lip Balm goes on clear, then transforms to a perfect color based on your skin’s pH (level of acidity). It’s so fun to see what color the balm becomes! It’s giving major mood ring vibes The formula is silky (not sticky), and the color lasts pretty well! So far, I’m impressed. • Nail extensions that last weeks but don’t damage your natural nails?!?! Check out the process for getting Après-X nail extensions! There aren’t many salons in Toronto that offer this service, but so far, I’m a fan! I love bio-gel, but I have the WEAKEST nails, so after I get the extensions removed, my nails shred and take forever to grow back out. I heard about this soak-off style, and couldn’t wait to check it out for myself! I haven’t gotten them removed yet, but I’ll update you all when I do! ✅ durable like bio-gel ✅ light and thin ✅✅✅
  • Lately, I’ve been feeling a more subtle look. ☁️ Swapping out the black winged liner for a smidge of grey; trading in the full-coverage base for something a little softer. Not exactly sure why, but so far, I like it. ✨ Wearing @milkmakeup sunshine skin tint in light* + @uomabeauty drama bomb mascara* + @annabellecosmetics kohl eyeliner in charcoal* + @madeupbeauty_ lip conditioner in piña colada* + @lysbeautyofficial bronzer in motivate *gifted products @shoppersbeauty @natapr_ @matinee.studio @lexprcanada —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #subtlemakeup #naturalmakeup #crueltyfreemakeup #torontopr #muotd #softmakeup #everydaymakeup #affordablemakeup #thoughtfulchoicesatshoppers
