Battle of the Eye Gels

Posted on June 17, 2016June 19, 2016 by Alysia

When you’re tired and didn’t get enough sleep, it can really show in your eyes. From dark circles to puffiness, and even dry areas with fine lines. While you could always sleep more to fight off the the symptoms, sometimes there’s just no time! Eye gel patches might just be the one thing that will rescue you. I’ve heard about using a spoon from the freezer or slices of cucumber for a quick fix;  but I’ve looked into three eye gels that can be kept on hand easily for those moments when you need a quick fix.

THEFACESHOP Raspberry Roots Collagen Eye Patch

This product comes with two pairs and has a plastic film on the front and back that you must peel off before applying. It’s filled with raspberry root and collagen extract to hydrate and reduce puffiness.

After having the under eye patch for 30-40 mins, it will smooth and brighten your delicate eye area. It’s recommended to use in the evening before bed. Raspberry Roots can be found at The Face Shop for $5.

Patchology FlashPatch Eye Gels

These gels will de-puff and brighten in just 5 mins while also plumping and smoothing fine lines with an exclusive complex of five proven hydrating ingredients (Caffeine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Centella Asiatica, Hydrolyzed Collagen and Portulaca Oleracea Extract).

It is ideal for pre-makeup prep, travel jet lag or night time relief of tired, overworked eyes. There are 30 pairs in the jar and works even better when it’s kept in the fridge. Patchology can be purchased at Murale and retails for $60.

Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels

Within 10 minutes, the cooling transdermal gel patch infuses the eye area with highly potent actives and Icelandic glacial water to firm, tone, brighten and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

It also contains ginkgo biloba leaf extract to improve blood flow to brighten the under-eye area and help reduce puffiness. Skyn Iceland can be found at Murale and retails for $33 for 8 pairs.

While Patchology was a bit messy with its goopy gel/serum, it did come with a spatula to help remove the gel patch from the stack. I did like that after removal you could massage in the excess serum. Skyn Iceland appeared dry when I removed it from the package but once I applied it, the cooling sticky tack helped adhere the patch to my under eye, and it’s not at all messy. Raspberry Roots just had an extra layer of film to remove before applying.  All three stuck to the under eye area well and were easy to remove after the suggested leave on time.

Do I have a favorite? No. I actually like them all equally and find that each one has its own unique use. Raspberry Roots is great for a Sunday night routine. Patchology would be for everyday use in the morning before applying makeup and Skyn Iceland works perfectly before a big night out. In terms of costs, Patchology would give you the best bang for your buck with each gel patch only being $2.What do you do when you don’t get enough sleep? Have you tried using eye gels before?

  • Trying out @fentyskin’s Cookies & Clean Detox Face Mask! I love a good mask, and goodness knows my skin needs a bit of help nowadays! ➡️This is one of the products I featured in my blog post about Black-owned beauty brands. I love that it’s not too drying, makes my skin feel refreshed, is cruelty-free, and is part of the Clean at Sephora collection! Have you checked out anything from Fenty Beauty or Fenty Skin? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #blackownedbeauty #blackownedbusinesses #cleanskincare #fentyskin #cleanatsephora #claymask #charcoalmask #crueltyfree #crueltyfreeskincare #crueltyfreebeauty #torontopr #torontoblogger #selfcaresunday #skincareroutine #skincarejunkie #skincarelover #cleanskin
  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan! Do you prefer shellac, bio-gel, dip, or natural nails? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #springmani #dippowdernails #dipmanicure #toronto #torontonails #torontopr #dipnails #nailinspo #bluenails #shortnails #opidippowder #organicnailbar #organicnailbarto #kingwest #freshnails #nailstagram #simplenails #nailsalon
