Consultation

The Kiehl’s Apothecary Preparations consultation works in two parts, Diagnosis and Personalization:

  • The customer will identify with a Kiehl’s Customer Representative (“KCR”) their skin concerns with the Consultation Skin Atlas, it’s like the Bible for skin. You will go through the atlas and evaluate your facial skin from 1-4 in areas of lines & wrinkles, skin tone, texture, pores and visible redness.
  • After identifying the two areas you would like to concentrate on, the KCR will then provide you with two tubes to mix in with a skin-strengthening concentrate. These three items are part of the personalization treatment that the customer will take home and activate. The activation in an interactive part that Kiehl’s wanted to introduce with Apothecary Preparations, it gives customer a hand in creating a product that works for their skin.

Personalized Skin Care

In a personalized box that includes the customer’s name, date and details of consultation and directions for use. The three parts for mixing will include a skin-strengthening concentrate and two individually selected targets complexes.

Concentrate

The skin-strengthening concentrate is made up of a 35% concentration of Squalane, a botanical lipid from the Olive fruit, its emollient feature coats the surface of the skin and leaves a layer on moisture. It softens and smoothes the skin without leaving a greasy residue. The other component is 20% Skin Lipid Complex and it contains other botanical oils – apricot, coriander, black current and echium – that add extra hydration and skin replenishment.

Targeted Complexes

The targeted complexes are highly potent and should not be applied directly to the skin and when diluted with the concentrate it provides optimal efficacy dependent on the individual’s specific skin concerns. There are five complexes: redness, wrinkles, rough texture, large pores and dullness.

My Personal Skin Care

From my personalized skin evaluation above, my skin concerns are wrinkles and dullness. In my personalized box, I was given the Wrinkle Reducing Complex and the Brightening Complex. For wrinkle reducing, the complex contains vitamin A (Retinol) and Pro-retinol, both are an anti-aging ingredient to reduce and diminish the appearance of lines and wrinkles. To brighten, the vitamin C and scotch pine extract helps prevent dullness and uneven skin tone while promoting brightness.

My Experience

When I got home, I put both complexes into the concentrate and shook the bottle for 20 seconds and then did a patch test on my wrist overnight to ensure I would not have an allergic reaction to the complexes. Now because of the retinol, I had the additional direction to only use my personalized facial concentrate at night. This concentrate is to be applied after your cleanser, toner, eye cream, serum and moisturizer.

The Results

After my first application, my skin was so soft in the morning when I woke up. After several uses, I noticed how my skin wasn’t as dull and I actually noticed that my face appeared brighter. The results are to really show after four weeks of use. I really love how soft and supple my skin is after leaving it on overnight – this is my favorite feature and result of using this product, as well as having Kiehl’s customize a treatment made for my skin and its concerns.

This personalized skincare service featuring Kiehl’s Apothecary Preparations is available at Kiehl’s at CF Eaton Centre in this season.

  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan! Do you prefer shellac, bio-gel, dip, or natural nails? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #springmani #dippowdernails #dipmanicure #toronto #torontonails #torontopr #dipnails #nailinspo #bluenails #shortnails #opidippowder #organicnailbar #organicnailbarto #kingwest #freshnails #nailstagram #simplenails #nailsalon
