New Year, New (to me) Brands!

Posted on March 15, 2022March 14, 2022 by Maddie

One of my favourite things to do at the beginning of each year is try products from new brands. Whether the brand is new on the market or just new to me, I love the chance to shake up my routine. Read on to find out more about Keri, Moo Goo, and Bella Aura: 3 new (to me) brands that I’m loving so far in 2022!

{New Year, New (to me) Brands!}

Disclaimer: The products mentioned below were provided to me at no cost for editorial consideration. All opinions are my own.

With the transition between seasons, my skin and hair have been in need of some serious soothing and hydrating. (And, let’s be honest, since wearing a mask each day, I’ve basically given up on makeup!) The three new brands I’ve been loving are skincare and haircare-focused. The new brands I’ve tried so far are:

  • Keri Clinical Care, the newest high-performance line from the veteran body-care company
  • Moo Goo, an eco-friendly brand from Australia that’s all about natural solutions for skin problems
  • Bella Aura, a Canadian brand combining modern science with ancient herbal ingredients

New Line: Keri Clinical Care

You’re probably already familiar with some of Keri’s products, since the brand has been around for over 50 years! This drugstore staple has been an important part of skincare routines since long before self-care became so trendy. Keri products are all about delivering effective hydration at affordable prices.

While Keri isn’t a new brand, their Clinical Care Line is their most recent offering, with unique formulas that bring hydration to a whole new level! The Clinical Care Advanced Hydration Hand Cream ($9.52) can protect hands for up to 24 hours and contains ingredients like aloe vera, vitamin E, and avocado oil. The frequent handwashing and sanitizing we’ve all had to do over the past few years has taken a toll on my hands, so any long-lasting moisturizer is definitely a plus in my books.

Keri’s Clinical Care Barrier Renewal Complex ($9.47) goes even further. This cream contains ceramides, which can replace skin’s natural lipids as they weaken. Your skin is therefore less likely to dry out or become rough with regular use. The formula also has humectants and emollients to absorb and lock in moisture.

I think my favourite product from Keri’s Clinical Care line, however, is the Extreme Hydration Body Cream ($17.95). This airy cream feels light and non-greasy, but delivers mega hydration to itchy or cracked skin. I applied some after my shower this morning, and have found myself absentmindedly stroking my arms all day since they’re now so soft!

All the products from Keri’s new Clinical Care line are free from parabens, dyes, and added fragrance, so they’re safe for even the most sensitive skin.

New Brand in Canada: Moo Goo

Moo Goo is a new brand to the Canadian market, though they’ve been around in their native Australia since 2015. As you may have guessed from the name, the Moo Goo was inspired by a product meant for cows! Moo Goo’s founder Craig Jones noticed that his mother was using a cow udder repair cream to treat psoriasis on her hands, and decided to reformulate the product for human use.

Since launching their cult favourite hand cream, Moo Goo has expanded their product line to offer a wide range of natural skincare, body-care, and haircare products. From natural deodorant to moisturizers, shampoos, lip balms, and scalp cream, Moo Goo has you covered from tip to (metaphorical) tail!

All Moo Goo products are cruelty-free and are made using ingredients that are safe for people of all ages and skin types. (I highly recommend reading Moo Goo’s ingredient philosophy to find out more about their product formulation and marketing. An excellent takedown of greenwashing!) Their products are also gender-neutral, made in a carbon-neutral facility, dermatologically tested, and packaged and shipped using recyclable materials.

I’ve loved every Moo Goo product I’ve tried so far, but my top three have been the Cow Lick Edible lip balm ($5.99),  the Fresh Cream deodorant ($11.99) and the Dry Shampoo ($22.99).

I haven’t experienced any irritation or redness with any Moo Goo product, and each one absorbs easily, works well, and has no strong fragrance. The lip balm has been a godsend with this dry weather, and is literally safe to eat! (Though it’s not recommended as a snack. 🙂 ) Moo Goo’s deodorant keeps me fresh throughout the day no matter how active I am, and the dry shampoo has saved my hair more than once when I’ve been too busy to shower.

Moo Goo products have been an absolute necessity for me as we move into reopening and I’m having to be presentable in society again! You’re definitely going to want to check Moo Goo out for yourself.

New Brand: Bella Aura

Bella Aura is a new brand that offers a range of multi-use products to address common skin concerns. Founded by Moroccan Canadian Yasmine Jones, Bella Aura products target three root causes of skin problems: inflammation, dehydration, and reactive oxygen species (ROS), which can accelerate the aging process of the skin and damage DNA.

While Bella Aura products are developed using cutting-edge science, their formulas include ingredients that have been used in traditional herbal medicine for hundreds of years. You may recognize some of the classic skincare ingredients – such as argan oil, clay, and Vitamin E – but ones such as Norwegian Spruce, Micro-Silver, and Balloon Vine extract are much less common. These are just some of the unique ingredients Bella Aura uses to create their products, inspired by herbal traditions of Berber, Mediterranean, and Chinese cultures.

Bella Aura’s Multi-Repair Rescue Masque ($150) has received rave reviews from acne sufferers nationwide. I love that this mask comes in a pump (so easy to dispense and apply!) and is a leave-on product. Whenever I use the Multi-Repair Recue Masque, I wake up with a glowing and even complexion.

For daytime treatment of my acne-prone skin, I’ve been using Bella Aura’s Rapid Repair Clarifying Elixir ($99).  The lightweight formula and intoxicating natural fragrance of this elixir are the perfect addition to my morning skincare routine.

After I’ve applied the Rapid Repair elixir, I use Bella Aura’s Antioxidant Booster ($120) before applying sunscreen. Its powerful ingredients work to reduce texture and pigmentation in skin, and leave my skin looking and feeling radiant!

BA products can definitely be an investment, but I’ve really enjoyed adding them to my skincare routine, and have loved the results so far. My spouse even complimented my “glowing skin” earlier this week, completely out of the blue!

Bella Aura products are cruelty-free, halal, and include sustainably sourced materials.

As you can see, between Keri Clinical Care, Moo Goo, and Bella Aura, my skin and hair are set up for an absolutely fabulous 2022!

Are any of these new (to me) brands on your must-try list?

  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan! Do you prefer shellac, bio-gel, dip, or natural nails? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #springmani #dippowdernails #dipmanicure #toronto #torontonails #torontopr #dipnails #nailinspo #bluenails #shortnails #opidippowder #organicnailbar #organicnailbarto #kingwest #freshnails #nailstagram #simplenails #nailsalon
