Summer 2017 Favourites for Sun Kissed Skin

Posted on August 7, 2017August 4, 2017 by Joanna

So far I have been making the most of this beautiful weather with cottage weekends, beach days and simple walks through the neighborhood. While it is super important to protect your skin from the sun’s rays, there are other ways to attain perfect, sun kissed skin. No one will ever know the difference!

{Summer 2017 Favourites for Sun Kissed Skin}

There are options for everyone – so if you are afraid of looking “orange” or “fake” fear no more! Along with beautifully bronzed skin it is a good idea to properly prep your skin in advance for the most even and natural looking complexion.

Prepping for sun kissed skin

Tweezerman LED 15x Mini Mirror

Ok so first thing’s first – healthy, moisturized skin. I love this handy little mirror because it magnifies like no other that I have ever used and has a light-up LED frame around the edge which you can turn on to see even more clearly! This is a great gadget when plucking any unwanted eyebrow hairs, along with identifying clogged pores or dry patches. Once you can see what you have to work with you can use your favourite cleanser – see mine blogged about here (and exfoliater if needed) followed by a moisturizer to properly give your skin the hydration it needs. I could not get over how effective this little mirror works – and it’s small enough to fit into a purse or clutch! You can purchase on of these nifty little things for $32 CAD at tweezerman.ca.

Too Faced Bronzers

Too Faced has a large collection of bronzers, something to suit a wide range of skin tones. Their products are cruelty free while using fine, cutting-edge ingredients. Here are a few that I had a lot of fun swooning over:

  • Comes in three shades – light, medium and dark
  • Smells like chocolate – infused with real cocoa powder!
  • A natural, matte bronze
  • Portable compact with mirror

  • Golden warmth combined with pink-under toned bronze

  • Described as “California in a compact”

Sweethearts Bronzer

  • A baked bronzer for a luminous glow
  • Includes two separate colours that can be layered for the perfect flush
  • Adorable packaging!
  • Natural, radiant glow

Price: $38 CAD at sephora.com

Pink Leopard Blushing Bronzer

  • Great for a perfect all-over glow or a healthy flush to the cheeks
  • Combined golden bronze, pink and fawn
  • Slight shimmer
  • Fun, leopard print- patterned powder
  • Portable compact with mirror

There is so much to choose from – and I love that Too Faced put so much attention into giving options for a variety of beauty looks. Whether you want a deeper glow from Beach Bunny, or a more natural flush from  Snow Bunny, you are sure to find your perfect fit with Too Faced.

So after all of these which stands out as my personal favourite for the look I am trying to achieve? I would have to go with the Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer in Milk Chocolate (lightest shade). It offers me a matte, natural looking tan and smells like chocolate!

How are you getting sun kissed skin this summer?

  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan! Do you prefer shellac, bio-gel, dip, or natural nails? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #springmani #dippowdernails #dipmanicure #toronto #torontonails #torontopr #dipnails #nailinspo #bluenails #shortnails #opidippowder #organicnailbar #organicnailbarto #kingwest #freshnails #nailstagram #simplenails #nailsalon
  • Trying out @fentyskin’s Cookies & Clean Detox Face Mask! I love a good mask, and goodness knows my skin needs a bit of help nowadays! ➡️This is one of the products I featured in my blog post about Black-owned beauty brands. I love that it’s not too drying, makes my skin feel refreshed, is cruelty-free, and is part of the Clean at Sephora collection! Have you checked out anything from Fenty Beauty or Fenty Skin? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #blackownedbeauty #blackownedbusinesses #cleanskincare #fentyskin #cleanatsephora #claymask #charcoalmask #crueltyfree #crueltyfreeskincare #crueltyfreebeauty #torontopr #torontoblogger #selfcaresunday #skincareroutine #skincarejunkie #skincarelover #cleanskin

  • I got Botox! (Technically, I got Nuceiva, which is a different brand of neuromodulator, but does the same thing) I’ve been feeling uncomfortable with the fine lines on my forehead, and wanted to try out neuromodulators! It was easier and much less painful than I anticipated, but definitely was a bit of an emotional journey. ➡️ I got 24 units during this visit, at a cost of $11 each. (Cost will vary depending on brand of neuromodulator, the clinic you choose, and the person who does the treatment) ➡️ This treatment will probably last around 3 months, and then will
