A Trip to Parlour Salon

Posted on June 29, 2016July 1, 2016 by Elaine

Recently I took a trip to The Beaches – a very popular neighborhood in Toronto that I rarely get to! The purpose of my visit to that end of the city was to check out Parlour Salon and a couple of their signature treatments. {A Trip to Parlour Salon – Beaches Location} I booked an…

Posted on April 20, 2016March 30, 2020 by Alysia

{McManus and Campbell Hair Salon – Distillery District} Late last year, I attended the one year anniversary party for McManus and Campbell, a fabulous hair salon tucked in the Distillery District. For those of you living in Toronto, you may not even know that it’s there since it’s located closer to Cherry Street behind Cluny…

The Secret to Shiny, Healthy Hair is Pai-Shau

Posted on December 3, 2015March 30, 2020 by Elaine

Many, many hair products pass across my desk, and I have to admit that I don’t have high hopes for most of them. To be fair, I have pretty difficult hair to tame. Coarse, dry and curly – I need a lot of products to keep it at its best! I was recently introduced to Pai-Shau…

Fringe Portland Salon – King West Neighborhood

Posted on November 19, 2015November 20, 2015 by Elaine

With so many hair salons and talented hair artists in the city, it can be hard to stand out from the crowd. Sometimes, simple and laid back is best; for me this is what makes Fringe Portland so unique.   When I first stepped through the doors of the King West neighborhood salon, I loved the minimal,…

Hair Cut at Salon Davachi

Posted on October 14, 2015March 30, 2020 by Sohnee

Not too long ago I attended the media opening of Salon Davachi, a new salon that has joined the Yorkville community on Scollard Avenue. Well, after the event, I booked an appointment to get a haircut. I ended up getting a lot more than that. When I first came in, I was offered a warm beverage,…

Salon Davachi: A New Salon in Yorkville

Posted on September 14, 2015September 12, 2015 by Sohnee

EXTRA! EXTRA! There’s a new salon in Yorkville! I was invited to attend the opening night for Yorkville’s newest spot, Salon Davachi. The place gets its name from the owner, internationally renowned hair stylist, Félor Davachi.  Félor has been working in Toronto for the past 30 years as a Master Stylist at Salon Daniel and…

Sassoon Salon Toronto Relocates

Posted on August 24, 2015March 30, 2020 by Elaine

The Sassoon Salon Toronto has been an institution in Yorkville on Avenue Road for almost 50 years. This month they said goodbye to their old address and began a new adventure in the same neighborhood, this time at 122 Scollard Street. This bright new airy space is getting much praise from regulars – I was invited…

Posted on July 3, 2015November 15, 2015 by Elaine

One of the perks of being involved in the beauty and fashion industry is the amazing parties I get to attend! The majority of the time they are for work – media invites to events or launches to learn about new products and services – all so I can hurry home and write about what…

  • I got Botox! (Technically, I got Nuceiva, which is a different brand of neuromodulator, but does the same thing) I’ve been feeling uncomfortable with the fine lines on my forehead, and wanted to try out neuromodulators! It was easier and much less painful than I anticipated, but definitely was a bit of an emotional journey. ➡️ I got 24 units during this visit, at a cost of $11 each. (Cost will vary depending on brand of neuromodulator, the clinic you choose, and the person who does the treatment) ➡️ This treatment will probably last around 3 months, and then will
  • Fresh nails for Spring! This was my first time getting a dip powder mani. It was so interesting! Apparently it’ll last about 3-4 weeks. I like that I didn’t have to cure the nails with a UV lamp, and that there was less filing than with biogel. I decided not to go with extensions today, but that’s an option as well. So far I’m a fan! • Trying out @fentyskin’s Cookies & Clean Detox Face Mask! I love a good mask, and goodness knows my skin needs a bit of help nowadays! ➡️This is one of the products I featured in my blog post about Black-owned beauty brands. I love that it’s not too drying, makes my skin feel refreshed, is cruelty-free, and is part of the Clean at Sephora collection! Have you checked out anything from Fenty Beauty or Fenty Skin? —————————————————————————— #torontobeautyreviews #mytbrfave #tbrcontributors #blackownedbeauty #blackownedbusinesses #cleanskincare #fentyskin #cleanatsephora #claymask #charcoalmask #crueltyfree #crueltyfreeskincare #crueltyfreebeauty #torontopr #torontoblogger #selfcaresunday #skincareroutine #skincarejunkie #skincarelover #cleanskin
